Application value of continuous quality improvement cycle program mode in risk management of postoperative pulmonary infection in patients with craniocerebral surgery

Abstract:Objective To explore the application of continuous quality improvement cycle (FOCUS-PDCA) program model in postoperative lung infection risk management of patients undergoing craniocerebral surgery. Methods A total of 88 patients who underwent craniocerebral surgery from January 2018 to September 2020 in Pingxiang Third People′s Hospital were selected and divided into control group (n=43) and observation group (n=45) according to the difference in management mode during the treatment process. The patients in the control group were given conventional nursing mode after surgery, and the patients in the observation group were managed according to 9 steps in the Focus-PDCA procedure mode. The incidence of postoperative pulmonary infection, duration of infection, catheter insertion time, ICU observation time and total hospital stay of the two groups were compared, and the nursing satisfaction of the two groups in the treatment process was compared. Results The incidence of postoperative pulmonary infection in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the duration of infection in the observation group, tube-in-tube time,ICU observation time and total hospitalization time were shorter than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The nursing satisfaction rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The FOCUS-PDCA program mode can significantly reduce the incidence of pulmonary infections in patients undergoing craniocerebral surgery, shorten the time of catheterization, ICU observation time, and hospital stay, promote patient recovery, and improve patient satisfaction with treatment.
