Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Thymosin combined with Bromhexine Hydrochloride in the treatment of pulmonary infection secondary to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the elderly patients. Methods A total of 78 patients with COPD admitted to our hospital from October 2017 to October 2018 were selected as the study objects. They were divided into two groups by random number table method, with 39 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Bromhexine Hydrochloride, and the analysis group was treated with Thymosin combined with Bromhexine Hydrochloride. The total effective rate of clinical treatment, occurrence of adverse reactions, lung function indicators (forced expiratory volume in 1 second [FEV1], forced exhalation in 1 second/forced vital capacity [FEV1/FVC]) and blood gas analysis indicators (partial blood carbon dioxide pressure [PaCO2], partial blood oxygen pressure [PaO2]) of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the analysis group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05).After treatment, FEV1 and FEV1/FVC in the analysis group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).After treatment, the PaO2 in the analysis group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).After treatment, PaCO2 in the analysis group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of thymosin and bromhexine hydrochloride in elderly patients with pulmonary infection secondary to COPD can promote the recovery of patients more effectively, worthy of clinical application
