Abstract:Objective To analyze the correlation between health literacy and self-management ability in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods Sixty T2DM patients admitted to our hospital from January to May 2018 were enrolled in the study.According to the level of health literacy,they were divided into observation group(high health literacy)and control group(low health literacy),30cases in each group.Health education was instructed for them in order to analyze the relationship between patient′s health literacy and self-management ability.Results After nursing,the scores of emotional area,social area,mental health,and physiological area in the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between health literacy level and selfmanagement behavior as well as self-efficacy.That′s to say,the higher the patient′s health literacy level was,the higher the self-management behavior and self-efficacy scores get.Conclusion There is a correlation between the health literacy of patients with T2DM and the self-management ability.If the health literacy in T2DM patients is low,it is easy to lead to a decline in self-management ability,identify people with low health literacy and strive to improve their health literacy.
