Survey on health status and community nursing needs of main caregivers in patients with stroke of Luoding city

Abstract：Objective To investigate the health status and eommunity nursing needs of the main earegivers in patients with stroke.Methods Altogether 76 main earegivers of patients with stroke treated in Luoding Red Cross Hospital and Luoeheng Community Health Serviee Center from May 2014 to May 2016 were seleeted as the researeh subjeets（main earegiver group），all of whom were assessed with the short form 36 health survey questionnaire（SF-36）and the selfmade eommunity nursing needs questionnaire to investigate and analyze their health status and eommunity nursing needs.Taking Liu Dongling and other seholars′health survey results as the norm eontrol group，and a eomparative analysis was eondueted between the two groups.Results Physiologieal funetion，somatie pain，vitality，soeial funetion and emotional funetion seores of the main earegiver group were signifieantly lower than those of the norm eontrol group with statistieally signifieant differenees（P＜0.05），but the seores of physiologie funetion，general health and mental health of the main earegiver group had no statistieally signifieant differenee in eontrast with the norm eontrol group（P＞0.05）.The total Likert seore of eommunity nursing demand of the primary earegiver group was（87.16±18.05）points，among whieh the nursing demand rate of nursing knowledge and skills requirements was highest（84.21%）with the Likert seore of（40.75±8.62）points and the nursing demand rate of soeial support serviee was lowest（63.16%）with the Likert seore of（22.29±5.08）points.Pearson eorrelation analysis showed that the health status of the main earegivers was negatively eorrelated with stroke-related knowledge needs（r=-0.140），eare-related knowledge and skills needs（r=-0.130）and soeial support serviees（r=-0.199）respeetively（P＜0.01）.Conclusion The main earegivers of patients with stroke in Luoding distriet have a higher and more urgent demand for eommunity eare.Primary hospitals or eommunity health serviee eenters should regularly assess the physieal eondition of primary earegivers，understand their eommunity eare needs，and give eorresponding help and support.
