Application effects of nucleus accumbens combined with anterior limb of internal capsule as the target of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder

Abstract:Objective To explore the application effects of nucleus accumbens combined with anterior limb of internal capsule as the target of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder.Methods A total of 60 patients with refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder admitted to Kangning Hospital of Jinzhou City from July 2017 to July 2018 were selected as the control group,and a total of 58 patients with refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder admitted to Kangning Hospital of Jinzhou City from August 2018 to August 2019 were selected as the observation group.The control group treated with anterior limb of internal capsule as the target of deep brain stimulation,and the observation group treated with nucleus accumbens combined with anterior limb of internal capsule as the target of deep brain stimulation.The improvement of symptoms and the mental states of patients were compared between the two groups,and the recurrence was counted within 6 months after treatment.Results Six months after treatment,the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale(Y-BOCS)score of the observation group were lower than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Six months after treatment,the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)score,Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)score,and Symptom Check list 90(SCL-90)scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Six months after treatment,the total recurrence rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Nucleus accumbens combined with anterior limb of internal capsule as the target of deep brain stimulation for refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder can not only improve the compulsive behaviors,but also effectively reduce the recurrence rate of symptoms.
