Abstract：Objective To discuss preliminarily the influence of single or combined use of Metformin and Compound Danshen Dripping Pills on the body mass and glycolipid metabolism in patients with schizophrenia.Methods One hundred and twenty inpatients with schizophrenia accompanying with metabolic syndrome in our hospital from September 2016 to May 2017,and the patients were all in line with the diagnostic criteria of schizophrenia in the International Classification of Diseases(ICD-10).According to the random number table method,patients were divided into the Metformin combined with Compound Danshen Dripping Pills group (the following was referred to as the joint group),Compound Danshen Dripping Pills group and Metformin group,and there were 40 cases in each group.Body weight,body max index (BMI),fasting glucose,fasting insulin,triglyceride,total cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein (HDL),low-density lipoprotein (LDL),apolipoprotein A1,apolipoprotein B,and C peptide as well as the score of positive and negative syndrome scale (PANSS)and treatment emergent symptom scale (TESS)were assessed at baseline,3 and 6 months among three groups.Results After 6 months treatment,the joint group,Metformin group,and Compound Danshen Dripping Pills group had significant improvement in body weight,BMI,fasting glucose,total cholesterol and fasting insulin compared with beforetreatment(P＜0.05).Similarly,the joint group and Compound Danshen Dripping Pills group had significant improvement in HDL and LDL compared with before treatment(P＜0.05).The degree of decline of body mass,BMI and fasting insulin level in the joint group was the highest,followed by the Compound Danshen Dropping Pills group and Metformin group.There were no significant difference regarding clinical efficacy and the incidence of adverse reaction (P＞0.05).Conclusion Single or combined use of Metformin and Compound Danshen Dripping Pills can effectively and safely improve the body weight increasing and metabolic disturbance of metabolic syndrome induced by antipsychotic drugs.The curative effect of Metformin combined with Compound Danshen Dripping Pills is the best.
