Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of Nd:YAG laser therapy on temporomandibular joint pain.Methods A total of 90 patients with temporomandibular joint pain who were admitted to the Stomatological Hospital Affiliated Suzhou Vocational Health College from November 2019 to December 2020 were selected as the research subjects.The patients were divided into laser group(30 cases),control group(30 cases)and hot dressing group(30 cases)according to the random number table method.The laser group was treated with Nd:YAG laser irradiation,the control group was treated with fake Nd:YAG laser irradiation,and the hot compress group was treated with warm towel.The visual analogue scale(VAS)score,maximum opening,mandibular deflection and maximum extension motion before and after treatment were compared among the three groups.Results After treatment,VAS score of laser group was lower than that of control group and hot compress group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the maximum opening degree and the maximum extension motion of the laser group were greater than those of the control group and the hot compress group,and the opening skew was less than that of the control group and the hot compress group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Nd:YAG laser can effectively relieve the symptoms of temporomandibular joint pain and improve the degree of mandibular movement,which is a reliable and non-invasive treatment method,and is worth popularizing.
