Study on epidemiological characteristics and risk factors of hypertension in residents of Tumshuk City in Xinjiang

Abstract:Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and related risk factors of hypertension in residents of Tumushuk City, Xinjiang, and to provide a scientific basis for the formulation of hypertension control policies.Methods A cluster random sampling method was used to select 1271 people from 6 regiments in Tumushuk City, Xinjiang from June 2014 to May 2016, Residents aged 18 and above were used as the survey objects, hypertensive patients and their demographic characteristics among residents of Tumushuk city, Xinjiang were counted, the main health problems and behavioral influencing factors of hypertension patients in Tumushuk City, Xinjiang were analyzed, multivariate analysis of risk factors for hypertensive patients in Tumshuk city, Xinjiang were analyzed. Results A total of 1271 permanent residents aged 18 years and over were investigated, and 250 patients with hypertension (19.7%). There were statistically significant differences in the prevalence of hypertension among different ages, marital status, education level, and occupation (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the prevalence of hypertension with different weights and medical insurance, whether with diabetes, dyslipidemia, and moderate and mild activity (P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that different ages, occupations, weights, medical insurance, whether dyslipidemia and moderate-intensity activities were independent risk factors for hypertension (P<0.05). Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension in Tumushuk City, Xinjiang is relatively high and it is more prevalent in different populations. Different ages, occupations, weights, medical insurance, whether dyslipidemia and moderate-intensity activities are independent risk factors for patients with hypertension In order to ensure the effectiveness of prevention and control,key intervention measures should be taken according to the characteristics and risk factors of hypertension.
