Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of Orem self-caremode on the treatment compliance and quality of life of patients with rectal cancer after operation.Methods 80 cases of rectal cancer treated by Miles in our hospital from January to June 2016 were divided into control group（40 cases）and observation group（40 cases）according to the random number tablemethod.The control group was given routine nursing，the observation group on the basis of conventional nursing，was given Orem self-care mode throughout the whole process of routine nursing.Results The scores of SAS and SDS in two groupswas significantly decreased respectively，but the observation group decreased more significantly，with statistical difference（P＜0.05）.The score of SF-36 scale in the observation group was significantly higher than that in control group respectively，with statistical difference（P＜0.05）.In the observation group，length of hospital stay was significantly shorter than that of the control group，comfort and compliance of nursing score was significantly higher in control group，with statistical difference（P＜0.05）.Conclusion Orem self-caremode canmeet the needs of patients，ensure that patients get high quality of care needs，training patientswith good self-care ability，has a very important clinical application value.
