Abstract:Objective To explore the application of intervention mode based on protection motivation theory protection motivation theory, PMT in infection patients of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome,(HIV/AIDS) sero-discordant couples. Methods A total of 120 infection patients of HIV/AIDS sero-discordant couples confirmed in Nanjing Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected as the research objects from December 2019 to December 2020. According to random number table method, they were divided into the control group (n=60) and the observation group (n=60). The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group was additionally given nursing interventions based on PMT. After 6 months of intervention, selfmanagement behaviors, self-efficacy, usage rate of condoms, detection rate of spouses and counts of CD4 cells/viral load in both groups were evaluated. Results The usage rate of condoms and count of CD4 cells in the observation group were higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no significant difference in the scores of self-management and self-efficacy between the two groups before intervention (P>0.05). The scores of self-management and self-efficacy in both groups after intervention were higher than those before intervention (P<0.05), and the scores of self-management and self-efficacy in the observation group after intervention were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical intervention mode based on PMT can significantly improve self-management behaviors, self-efficacy, safe sexual behaviors, spouse detection rate and count of CD4 cells, and reduce count of viral load in infection patients of HIV/AIDS sero-discordant couples.
