Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Taiji Yunshou on gastrointestinal function of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) based on brain-gut axis theory. Methods A total of 72 CFS patients admitted to the Rehabilitation Hospital Affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2019 to September 2020 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into control group (36 cases) and experimental group (36 cases)according to the random number table method. The control group received conventional treatment, and the experimental group was treated with Taiji Yunshou on the basis of the control group. The changes of quality of life, fatigue degree,Bristol stool traits, plasma 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HT), neuropeptide Y (NPY), serum substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the quality of life scores of the two groups were higher than those before treatment, the fatigue scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment and the fatigue score of the experimental group was higher than the control group, and the fatigue score was lower than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the good rate of stool traits in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of 5-HT, NPY, SP and CGRP in the two groups were lower than before, and the levels of 5-HT, NPY, SP and CGRP in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Taiji yunshou has a better effect on gastrointestinal function of CFS patients, which is better than conventional therapy alone, and has a regulatory effect on 5-HT,NPY, SP, CGRP.
