Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of serum procalcitonin(PCT)in bacteremia. Methods A total of 80 patients with suspected bacteremia admitted to the Clinical Laboratory of Baicheng City Hospital of Jilin Province from January to June 2019 were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into control group and observation group according to the method of lot, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given blood bacterial culture, and the observation group was given serum PCT detection. The diagnostic efficacy of the two methods was compared with the gold standard of pathological detection. Results By pathological examination,38 patients in the observation group and the control group were diagnosed with bacteremia. The diagnostic accuracy of the observation group was 90.00%,which was higher than that of the control group(70.00%),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value between the two detection methods(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with blood bacterial culture, serum PCT detection can improve the diagnostic accuracy, and has higher clinical diagnostic value in patients with bacteremia.
