Abstract:Objective To explore the role of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and its gene polymorphism on the genesis process of human papillomavirus-16 (HPV16)-induced cervical cancer. Methods From January 2015 to December 2017,40 patients with chronic cervicitis,27 patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and 17 patients with cervical cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University were selected as the research objects, and sample data of 10 health examiners were collected. The polymerase chain reaction(PCR)-reverse dot hybridization and immunohistochemistry were used to detect HPV16 E6 protein,PCR method was used to detect STAT3 expression level,PCR-fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) was used to detect STAT3 gene C1697G polymorphism, and the results were compared and analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of E6 protein in patients with cervical cancer was higher than that in patients with chronic cervicitis and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The positive expression rate of STAT3 protein in patients with cervical cancer was higher than that in patients with chronic cervicitis and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There were statistically significant differences in the proportions of G/G and C/C among patients with cervical cancer, chronic cervicitis, and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the proportion of G/C among patients with cervical cancer, chronic cervicitis, and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (P>0.05).Conclusion STAT3 has close correlations with HPV16-induced cervical cancer, indicating that STAT3 and HPV16 expressions play an important role in the genesis and development of cervical cancer.
