Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of predictive nursing in the prevention of falls of inpatients with psychosis. Methods A total of 90 psychiatric patients treated in Mental Hospital of Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau from May 2018 to May 2019 were selected, and they were divided into two groups according to the random number table method: predictive nursing group (n=45) and routine nursing group (n=45).The fall risk factors, the incidence of falls and quality of care in patients of the two groups were analysed. Results There were no significant differences between fall history in the last 3 months, number of disease diagnosis, walking needs, drug treatment, gait and movement, and mental state score between the two groups of patients (P>0.05).The incidence of 1 fall, ≥2 falls, and the total falls in the predictive nursing group were 2.2% (1/45), 2.2% (1/45) and 4.4% (2/45), lower than those in the routine nursing group of 1.1% (5/45), 8.9% (4/45) and 20.0% (9/45), and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Patients in the predictive nursing group implemented fall prevention measures, formulated and implemented anti-fall measures,anti-fall care records, patient and nurse awareness, and ward management scores were higher than those in the routine nursing group, with statistical differences (P<0.05).Conclusion The application effect of predictive nursing is better than that of routine nursing in the prevention of falls of inpatients with psychosis.
