Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of inhaled corticosteroid combined with Tiotropium Bromide in the treatment of patients with asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) overlap syndrome. Methods Sixty patients with asthma-COPD overlap syndrome who were admitted to our hospital from June 2017 to June 2018 were selected as the subjects. They were divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. In the control group, corticosteroid inhalation alone was used, while in the observation group,Tiotropium Bromide was added on the basis of corticosteroid inhalation. The pulmonary function, asthma control test (ACT) score,COPD assessment test (CAT) score, and the occurrence of complications after medication were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1),residual volume/total lung capacity (RV/TLC),and inspiratory capacity/total lung capacity (IC/TLC),ACT score or CAT score between the two groups before the treatment (P>0.05).After treatment, the ratio of IC/TLC and FEV1 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and RV/TLC was lower compared with that in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05).The total incidence of palpitations, dry mouth, inhibited urination, and oral candida infection was lower than that of the control group after treatment (P<0.05).The ACT score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and CAT score was lower than that of the control group after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The application of inhaled corticosteroid combined with Tiotropium Bromide in the treatment of patients with asthma-COPD overlap syndrome is better than inhaled corticosteroid therapy alone, and can reduce the incidence of complications and promote the recovery of lung function, and reduce the occurrence of asthma and COPD patients, which has high clinical value and is worthy of widespread promotion.
