Abstract:Objective To investigate the application of PDCA cycle management in patients with moderate and severe cancer pain and opioid-induced constipation. Methods A total of 100 patients with moderate to severe cancerous pain combined with opioid-induced constipation admitted to Panyu Central Hospital were selected from January to December 2019.According to the order of visits, the patients were divided into the control group and the experimental group, with 50 patients in each group. The control group was treated with routine defecation nursing, while the experimental group received PDCA cycle management on the basis of routine defecation nursing. The severity of opioid-induced constipation and the quality of life assessment scale (PAC-QOL) score of constipation patients after nursing were compared between the two groups. Results The scores of each item of the Evaluation of Intestinal Function Index scale in the experimental group were all lower than those in the control group, and the PAC-QOL score of constipation in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion PDCA cycle management can improve opioid-induced constipation in patients with moderate and severe cancerous pain, and effectively reduce the severity of opioid-related constipation and the constipation quality of life.
