Abstract:Objective To improve the application effect of healthcare failure modeand effect analysis (HFMEA)in neonates with peripherally inserted central catheters(PICC).Methods From March 2016 to February 2017,74 neonates treated by NICU in Gaoming District People′s Hospital of Foshan City were selected as the control group, and they were given routine PICC nursing program, while 76 neonates from March 2017 to February 2018 treated were selected as the observation group, and the potential risk was analyzed by HFMEA,the high-risk process was screened out and improved. The incidence of puncture site infection and catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI),the daily incidence of CRBSI catheter and the average days of PICC catheter use were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of puncture site infection, the incidence of CRBSI and the daily incidence of CRBSI catheter in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The average number of days used for PICC catheter in observation group was longer than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of HFMEA in strengthening the management of PICC CRBSI in neonates can effectively reduce the incidence of catheter-related infections and prolong the effective use time of PICC catheters, which is worthy of further promotion in clinic.
