Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of nasal high-flow oxygen therapy on respiratory failure. Methods A total of 60 patients with respiratory failure admitted to our department from June 2017 to November 2018 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into the control group (27 cases)and the observation group(33 cases)according to admission time.Patients in the control group were treated with non-invasive mechanical ventilation after respiratory failure, while patients in the observation group were treated with nasal high-flow oxygen therapy. The arterial blood carbon dioxide partial pressure (PaCO2),partial oxygen partial pressure (PaO2),re-intubation rate after treatment,ICU stay, and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the level of Pa-CO2in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, the level of PaO2in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, with significant difference(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the heart rate and respiratory rate between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).The re-intubation rate of the observation group was 6.06%,which was lower than that of the control group accounting for 33.33%,the number of ICU stay and hospital stay were (9.78±2.86)d and (24.82±3.75)d in the observation group, which were greatly shorter than those in the control group ([12.57±3.35]d and [29.54±4.11]d),the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of nasal high-flow oxygen therapy for patients with respiratory failure is convenient and economical, and can achieve satisfactory effect, effectively improve patients′breathing difficulties, reduce the rate of tracheal intubation, and enhance the quality of life.
