Abstract:Th17 and Th22 cells are two new subsets of Th cells, Th22 cells mainly secrete cytokines such as interleukin-22 (IL-22), interleukin-13 (IL-13) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), the most important of these is IL-22.IL-22 is a member of the interleukin-10 (IL-10) cytokine family, it plays different roles in the occurrence and development of autoimmune diseases, tumors, infections and so on. Connective tissue disease is a group of autoimmune diseases involving bone, joint, muscle, blood vessel, ligament and other connective tissues. The etiology of CTD is still unclear. As a new cytokine, IL-22 has attracted much attention in the pathogenesis of connective tissue diseases, such as Sjogren′s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and ankylosing spondylitis. This article reviews the research status of IL-22 in common connective tissue diseases.
