Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between menopause hormone therapy (MHT)and cognitive function. Methods RCTs about MHT and cognition were published in databases PubMed,Embase,Cochrane library,CBM,CNKI,VIP and WANFANG DATA before November 2016 were searched.Meta-analysis was performed using STATA 12.0 software after quality assessment of the literature that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results Eight studies, involving 17530 patients, were included.Meta-analysis suggested that:①The effects of MHT on increasing the risk of probable dementia(HR=1.78,95%CI[1.20-2.62],P=0.004)had significant difference.②The effects of MHT on increasing the risk of mild cognitive impairment(HR=1.21,95%CI[0.94-1.55],P=0.143)had no significant difference.③The effects of MHT on global cognitive function was negative(WMD=-0.21,95%CI[-0.33--0.09],P=0.001).④MHT had no significant effect on CVLT short delay free(WMD=0.14,95%CI[-0.11-0.38],P=0.277)and category fluency(WMD=-0.16,95%CI[-0.82-0.51],P=0.647).Conclusion The Meta-analysis has revealed that in postmenopausal women over 60 years of age MHT have an adverse impact on global cognitive function, increase the risk of dementia or mild cognitive impairment and have no significant difference in specific cognitive functions.
