Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of improved sealing method in preventing blockage of peripheral venous indwelling needle in oncology patients. Methods A total of 300 patients who underwent peripheral venous indwelling needle in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from March 2019 to February 2020 were selected as research objects. They were divided into the control group and the experimental group according to the order of puncture catheterization,150 cases in each group. After the tube was placed, the experimental group underwent modified tube sealing technique and the control group underwent the conventional approach. The two groups were compared concerning the incidences of blood back flow, blockage 24 hours after closure and the average indwelling time. Results The incidences of blood back flow and blocked tube in experimental group were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The catheter life-time of experimental group was longer than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of phlebitis in experimental group was lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The improved sealing method can effectively prevent the occurrence of peripheral venous indwelling needle occlusion and prolong the indwelling time of the catheter in oncology patients
