Abstract:Objective To understand the anxiety and influencing factors of medical secondary vocational school students during the epidemic period of COVID-19. Methods From March 15th to 17th, 2020, 1600 medical students from 5 secondary vocational schools in Guangdong Province were investigated with a convenient sampling method by using the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-established general questionnaire through the network platform. Results A total of 143 cases (9.2%) of anxiety symptoms were detected among medical secondary vocational school students during the epidemic period of COVID-19. The score of SAS was (37.31±9.42) points, and the SAS score of the female students was higher than that of male students, the difference was statistically significant (t=3.551, P=0.000). The SAS score and anxiety detection rate of students who had taken public transportation were higher than those who had not taken public transportation, the differences were statistically significant (t=2.849, P=0.004; χ2=7.780, P=0.005). The results of regression analysis showed that students′ gender and whether they had taken public transportation had no effect on the anxiety (P>0.05). Conclusion Anxiety symptoms of medical secondary vocational school students are common during the epidemic period of COVID-19. Schools should establish a sound and perfect mental health screening plan and carry out mental health education activities in multiple dimensions.
