Prevalence of anxiety and depression among front-line female medical staff in Beijing

Abstract:Objective To investigate the anxiety and depression of female medical staff in Xiaotangshan Designated Hospital and analyze the related influencing factors and provide theoretical basis for maintaining the mental health of front-line female medical staff.Methods Questionnaires were used to study the stress,depression and anxiety and its related influencing factors of the female medical stafffrom April 6 to 10,2020 in Xiaotangshan Designated Hospital.Results A total of 659 female medical staffs were enrolled and completed the questionnaires.There were 396 (60.1%),297 (45.1%) and 126 (19.1%) patients with obvious symptoms of stress,depression and anxiety,respectively.There were 10 (1.5%) patients with symptoms of anxiety and depression.There were 65 (9.9%) and 19 (2.9%) patients had symptoms of moderate to severe depression and anxiety,respectively.Those with large changes in work content,daily time of paying attention to epidemic information>1 h,and daily sleep time less than 6 h were more likely to experience stress and anxiety symptoms.Large changes in work content,less than 6 hours of sleep per day,and longer anti-epidemic days are more likely to develop depressive symptoms.Conclusion In order to protect the physical and mental health of female health care workers on the front line of the epidemic,it is suggested to reduce the work changes of support staff,arrange appropriate support time and leave,carry out training on disease control knowledge and encourage health care staff to keep moderate exercise.
