Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical application of the Watian drinking water test in patients after modified electroconvulsive therapy(MECT).Methods From July 2019 to April 2020,98 patients with mental disorders treated by MECT in the Third People′s Hospital of Yichun City were selected and divided into the research group and the control group according to the random number table method,49 cases in each group.Patients in the control group were evaluated using conventional methods, and patients in the research group were evaluated using the Watian drinking water test. The incidence of choking and choking after MECT between the two groups of patients, the rate of eating patients at each time point after surgery, and the satisfaction of nursing care were compared between two groups. Results The incidence of cough and choking in the research group was lower than that in the control group, the differences was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the research group, the ratio of eating patients at 90,and 120 min after MECT was higher than that of the control group, and the differences was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the ratio of eating patients in 135 and 150 min between the two groups(P>0.05).The nursing total satisfaction of the research group was 100.00%,which was higher than that of the control group of 83.68%,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of the Watian drinking water test to evaluate patients after MECT and nurses master the quantitative methods for evaluating swallowing function after surgery, can significantly shorten the time for patients to eat and take medicine, and reduce the incidence of cough and choking, which is a scientific and practical evaluation method with simple operation and clear classification, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
