Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of stellate ganglion block on the cognitive function after carotid endarterectomy.Methods A total of 60 patients with carotid artery stenosis who were admitted to Ganzhou People′s Hospital from January 2018 to January 2021 were selected as the study subjects.According to the convenience sampling method,they were randomly divided into a control group (30 cases)and an experiment group (30 cases).The control group was given ordinary general anesthesia,and the experiment group was given stellate ganglion block (SGB)on the basis of the control group.The therapeutic effects,the scores of mini-mental state examination (MMSE)and Montreal cognitive assessment scale (MoCA)at one day before the operation and one,three,seven days after the operation,the levels of serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and interleukin-6 (IL-6)were compared between the two groups before and after operation.Results The total effective rate of treatment in the experiment group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in MMSE and MoCA scores between the two groups at one day before the operation(P>0.05).At one,three,seven days after the operation,the MMSE and MoCA scores in the experiment group were higher than those in the control group in the same period,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before the operation,there were no statistically significant differences in BDNF and IL-6 levels between the two groups(P>0.05).After the operation,the levels of BDNF and IL-6 in the two groups were higher than those before the operation in the group,and the levels of BDNF and IL-6 in the experiment group were higher than those in the control group in the same period,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Stellate ganglion block has a significant effect on improving cognitive function after carotid endarterectomy,and it is good safety.Further popularization and application can help improve the therapeutic effect and reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions.
