Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of SHEL model in the safety management of emergency intravenous medication.Methods Since February 1,2018,SHEL model hads been applied in the safety management of intravenous medication in the emergency department of our hospital.A total of 83 patients were randomly selected for intravenous administration before and after administration.The nursing safety issues,professional level scores and total nursing satisfaction of 28 nursing staff in our emergency department before implementation (from January 2017 to January 2018) and after implementation (from February 2018 to February 2019) were observed and compared.Results The incidence rates of intravenous medication nursing errors,nurse-patient disputes and complaints in the emergency department after the implementation were lower than those before the implementation,the scores of theoretical knowledge and practical operation were higher than those before the implementation,and the total nursing satisfaction was higher than that before the implementation,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The application of SHEL model in the course of intravenous medication in emergency department can effectively improve the safety of drug use,enhance the professionalism and accuracy of nursing behaviors of nurses,improve the quality of intravenous medication and nursing satisfaction of patients.
