Abstract:Objective To investigate the differences in distribution of cerebral artery stenosis and related factors in patients with ischemic stroke at different ages. Methods A total of 303 patients with acute ischemic stroke who were first diagnosed in our hospital from January 2014 to June 2017 were selected as the study subjects.According to age, they were divided into the older group (age≥80 years)(150 cases)and the elderly group (65 years<age<80 years)(153 cases). The differences in distribution of cerebral artery stenosis and related factors were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in the incidence rate of intracranial arterial stenosis between the two groups (P>0.05).The incidence rate of extracranial arterial stenosis in the older group was 14.67% (22/150),which was lower than that in the elderly group accounting for 29.41% (45/153),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The proportions of history in type 2 diabetes mellitus, smoking, drinking and levels of fasting blood glucose, and triglyceride in the older group were lower than those in the elderly group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The level of serum homocysteine in the older group was significantly higher than that in the elderly group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001).Conclusion The incidence rate of extracranial artery stenosis in patients with ischemic stroke 80 years old and above is lower than that under 80 years old. There are differences in the distribution of related factors among stroke patients in different age groups.
