Abstract:Objective To explore the expression and clinical significance of serum procalcitonin (PCT),serum amyloid A (SAA)and hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP)in elderly patients with fever. Methods A total of 85 cases of elderly patients with fever in our hospital from January 2016 to June 2018 were selected as the observation group, then 85 cases of elderly patients without fever at the same period were selected as the control group. The levels and positive rates of serum PCT,SAA and hs-CRP of the two groups were compared. Results The positive rates of serum PCT,SAA and hs-CRP in the observation group before treatment were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.01).The positive rates of PCT,SAA and hs-CRP in the observation group after cure were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.01).The levels of PCT,SAA and hs-CRP in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group before treatment (P<0.05).The levels of PCT,SAA and hs-CRP in the observation group after cure were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of PCT,SAA and hs-CRP is higher in serum of elderly patients with fever.Combined detection of PCT,SAA and hs-CRP can be used as a reliable indicator for early detection of bacterial infection and its severity in these patients.
