Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of laparoscopic surgery on patients with acute appendicitis and its influence on serum procalcitonin (PCT)and C-reactive protein (CRP)levels. Methods A total of 110 patients with acute appendicitis admitted to our hospital from April 2016 to September 2017 were selected as subjects. They were randomly divided into two groups according to the order of admission:laparoscopic appendectomy group (laparoscopic group,n=55)and appendectomy by laparotomy group (laparotomy group,n=55).The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, the time of getting out of bed,the recovery time of intestinal function and the hospital stay after surgery were compared between the two groups. The postoperative complications of the two groups were compared. The serum PCT and CRP levels on the 1st day and 3rdday after laparoscopic surgery were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time in the laparoscopic group was longer than that in the laparotomy group, the intraoperative blood loss in the laparoscopic group was less than that in the laparotomy group, the time of getting out of bed,the recovery time of intestinal function and the hospital stay after surgery in the laparoscopic group were greatly shorter than those in the laparotomy group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of postoperative complications in the laparoscopic group was significantly lower than that in the laparotomy group with a statistical difference (P<0.05).First day after surgery, the PCT and CRP levels were both higher in the two groups than prior surgery, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Three-day after surgery, the serum PCT and CRP levels in the two groups were significantly lower than those on the first day after surgery, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,the serum PCT and CRP levels three days after surgery in the laparoscopic group were not greatly different from those before surgery (P>0.05),while in the laparotomy group, the serum PCT and CRP levels were significantly higher than those before surgery, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum PCT and CRP levels on the 1st day and 3rd day after laparoscopic surgery were significantly lower than those in the laparotomy group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of laparoscopic surgery for patients with acute appendicitis is remarkable, which can reduce the inflammatory response in the body and has high safety.
