Abstract：Objective To analyze the value of procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in the treatment of sepsis.Methods Ninety-eight patients with sepsis admitted to the emergency intensive care unit (CCU) of our hospital from September 2016 to September 2018 were selected as the study subjects, they were divided into sepsis group (n=27), severe sepsis group (n=48) and septic shock group (n=23) according to the degree of infection, ninety-six patients with non-septic infection were selected as the control group.The levels of PCT and CRP in four groups were compared.The 98 sepsis patients were divided into death group (n=17) and survival group (n=81) according to their 28 day survival, the levels of PCT and CRP in the first, third and seventh days after treatment were compared between the two groups.Results The levels of PCT and CRP in sepsis group, severe sepsis group and septic shock group before treatment were significantly higher than those in control group, the differences were significant (P<0.05).The levels of P CT and CRP in septic shock group were higher than those in severe sepsis group and sepsis group, the levels of PCT and CRP in severe sepsis group were higher than those in sepsis group, the differences were significant (P<0.05).The levels of PCT and CRP at 3rd and 7th day after treatment in the surviving group were lower than those in the 1st day after treatment, the levels of PCT and CRP at 3rd and 7th day after treatment in the death group were higher than those at the 1st day after treatment, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The levels of PCT and CRP at 1st, 3rd and 7th day after treatment in survival group were significantly lower than those in death group on the 1st, 3rd and 7th day after treatment, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The combined dynamic detection of PCT and CRP is helpful to judge the severity of sepsis and to evaluate the therapeutic effect and prognosis of sepsis patients.
