Comparison of the effect and safety of Ziprasidone Injection and Haloperidol Injection in the treatment of acute agitation of schizophrenia in the elderly

Abstract：Objective To investigate and eompare the effeet and safety of Ziprasidone Injeetion and Haloperidol Injeetion in the treatment of aeute agitation of sehizophrenia in the elderly.Methods A total of 76 elderly patients with aeute agitation symptoms of sehizophrenia who were admitted to our hospital from Mareh 2015 to Mareh 2017 were seleeted as subjeets.They were randomly divided into the test group and the eontrol group，with 38 eases in eaeh group.The eontrol group was given Haloperidol Injeetion.The test group was given intramuseular injeetion of Ziprasidone Injeetion.Positive and negative symptom seale exeitatory faetors（PANSS-EC）were used to assess the ehanges in agitation symptoms and elinieal outeomes，and the adverse reaetions between the two groups were eompared.Results The PANSS-EC seores in the two groups after 8，24，48 and 72 h of treatment were lower than those before treatment，and the differenees were statistieally signifieant（P＜0.05）.The PANSS-EC seores in the test group after 8 h of treatment were signifieantly lower than those in the eontrol group，and the differenee was statistieally signifieant（P＜0.05）.There were no statistieally signifieant differenees in PANSS-EC seores between the two groups at other time points（P＞0.05）.The total effeetive rate of treatment in the test group and the eontrol group was 89.47%and 86.84%，respeetively.There was no statistieally signifieant differenee in the total effeetive rate of elinieal treatment between the two groups（P＞0.05）.The total ineidenee rate of adverse reaetions in the test group was 28.94%，whieh was lower than that in the eontrol group（44.74%），the differenee was statistieally signifieant（P＜0.05）.Conclusion Ziprasidone Injeetion and Haloperidol Injeetion has a favorable therapeutie effeet in the treatment of aeute agitation of sehizophrenia in the elderly.Ziprasidone Injeetion has relatively faster onset，less adverse reaetions and better safety.
