Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Memantine Hydrochloride combined with Nimodipine in the treatment of elderly patients with vascular dementia(VD).Methods 94 elderly patients with VD treated by our hospital from Jan uary 2012 to February 2015 were selected and they were randomly divided into control group(n=47)and observation group(n=47).The control group was given oral Nimodipine. The observation group was given Memantine Hydrochloride for treatment based on the control group.MMSE score,CDR score and ADLS score and adverse events were compared between two groups before treatment and 12 weeks of treatment were observed and compared. Results At 12 weeks of treatment,MMSE and ADLS score of the two groups were significantly increased (P<0.05),CDR score was significantly decreased(P<0.05).MMSE and ADLS score of observation group were significantly higher than those of control group(P<0.05),CDR score was significantly lower than that of control group(P<0.05)at 12 weeks. There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Memantine Hydrochloride combined with Nimodipine can effectively improve cognitive function and ability of daily life of elderly patients with VD, and it has high security.
