Application effect of Polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder combined with oral liquid of Lactulose on bowel preparation in aged patients with constipation by colonoscopy

Abstract：ObjectiveTo explore the effect of Polyethylene glycol electrolytes powder combined with oral liquid of Lactulose on intestinal preparation in elderly patients with constipation by colonoscopy.MethodsA total of 150 aged patients performed with electronic colonoscope from May to December 2016 in our hospital were enrolled in this study. The patients were divided into Polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder group,Lactulose group and experimental group (Polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder combined with oral solution of Lactulose).The adverse reactions of bowel preparation among three groups were observed as well as the patient′s tolerance,the intestinal cleanliness via colonoscope was also observed.ResultsThe incidence of adverse reactions,bowel preparation within the specified time, tolerance of intestinal preparation,and cleanliness were all displayed statistical differences(P＜0.05).There was no statistical difference in the success rate of enteroscope reaching ileocecal valve(P＞0.05).ConclusionBowel preparation of Polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder combined with oral liquid of Lactulose for elderly patients with constipation can increase their compliance,which is safe and effective,and is considered as a favorable method.
