Abstract：Objective To explore the clinical effect of small incision appendectomy in the treatment of elderly patients with appendicitis.Methods 78 elderly patients with appendicitis in our hospital from September 2015 to April 2016 were selected and divided into the control group and the experiment group according to the draw method，39 cases in each group.The control group was treated with traditional surgery，the experiment group was treated with small incision appendectomy.The treatment effect between the two groups was compared.Results The operation time and incision length of the experimental group was shorter than that of the control group，the amount of bleeding in the experimental group was less than that in the control group，with significant difference（P＜0.05）.The rate ofwound infection in the experimental group was 5.13%，which was lower than 17.95%in the control group，with significant difference（P＜0.05）.The recovery time of the experimental group was（4.17±1.03）days，which was shorter than （7.74±1.23）days of the control group，with significant difference （P＜0.05）.Conclusion Small incision appendectomy can shorten the operation time and recovery time of elderly patientswith appendicitis，reduce the amount of bleeding，shorten the length of incision and improve the safety of operation，it isworthy of clinical promotion and application.
