Abstract:Objective To explore curative effectiveness of proximal femoral nail(PFNA)and proximal femoral locking plate (PFLCP)for treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fractures in aged patients.Methods 66 patients hospitalized in our department of elderly femoral intertrochanteric fracture(aged over 60 years old)from January 2013 to August 2014 were randomly divided into two groups and were treated with PFNA or PFLCP.The operation time,bleeding volume,clinical healing time,internal fixation complication rate and the last follow-up Harris score of the two groups were compared.Results All 66 patients were followed up for 12-20 months.The operation time,bleeding volume,clinical healing time,internal fixation complication rate and the last follow-up Harris score of the PFNA group were (61.7±11.8)min,(78.1±18.7)ml,(7.34±1.18)weeks,3.13%,90.6%and PFLCP group were (62.8±9.7)min,(111.2±28.6)ml,(9.74±1.71)weeks,8.82%,70.6%.There was no statistically significant difference in the operation time and the incidence of complication between the two groups(P>0.05).But the patients with treatment of PFNA got fewer intraoperative blood loss,shorter fracture healing time and better functional recovery of hip joint(P<0.05).Conclusion PFNA internal fixation has the advantages of small trauma,quick healing,and earlier weight bearing,it is the better choice for the treatment of elderly femoral intertrochanteric fractures.
