Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effect of elastic stable intramedullary nail(ESIN)as a micro-invasive therapy on treating comminuted fracture of fibula complicated with tibia fracture.MethodsThe clinical data from 65 patients suffering from comminuted fracture of fibula complicated with tibia fracture from January 2013 to January 2016 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.According to different therapeutic methods, they were divided into two groups. In control group(n=30),plate internal fixation was used, while in observation group(n=35),ESIN was adopted. The operation and therapeutic outcome were compared between the two groups.ResultsThe operation time and incision length in the observation group were significantly shorter than those of the control group. The intraoperative amount of bleeding in the observation group was less than that of the control group. The surgical cost in the observation group was lower compared with that of the control group. The differences mentioned above were all displayed statistical significance (P<0.05).During follow up visits after surgery, the excellent and good recovery rate, healing time of bone fracture, and incidence of complications in the observation group were all superior to those in the control group with significant differences(P<0.05).ConclusionIn the treatment of comminuted fracture of fibula complicated with tibia fracture,ESIN as a minimal invasion can obtain a favorable effect at advantages of small trauma, few complcations, quick revoery, and cost saving.
