Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) in the treatment of complex renal calculi. Methods The clinical data of 64 patients with complex renal calculi who were admitted to Lianjiang People′s Hospital in Guangdong Province from October 2017 to October 2019 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the control group and the observation group according to different treatment methods, with 32 cases in each group. The control group was treated with open surgery and the observation group was treated with PCNL. The clinical indicators(operative time, intraoperative blood loss, renal fistula catheter retention time), stone clearance rate, stone recurrence rate and serum creatinine (SCr) levels in the two groups were compared. Results The operative time and renal fistula catheter retention time of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group, the intraoperative blood loss was less than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The stone clearance rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the stone recurrence rate was lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the SCr levels in both groups were lower than those before treatment, the SCr level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of PCNL in the treatment of patients with complex renal calculi can not only shorten the operation time and reduce intraoperative blood loss, but also improve the stone clearance rate, effectively improve renal function and reduce the recurrence of stones.
