Abstract:Objective To understand the oral health status and cognition of college freshmen, and to provide reference for the formulation of oral health education strategies for college students, so as to promote the development of oral health of young students. Methods In December 2020, a random sampling method was adopted to carry out the survey,and 652 freshmen enrolled in 2020 nationwide were selected as the survey objects. A questionnaire was designed to investigate the oral health status, cognitive status and health behavior of college freshmen in different areas by issuing electronic questionnaires. Results A total of 700 questionnaires were distributed, and 652 effective questionnaires were actually recovered. Among the respondents, 406 (66.27%) had suffered from oral diseases, 530 (81.29%) had not received regular oral examinations, and 400 (61.35%) did not know the impact of dental plaque on oral health. Three hundred and forty-seven respondents mainly obtained oral health knowledge from family members, accounting for 53.22%, followed by online media (51.07%) and oral doctors (47.70%). Conclusion The respondents have low cognition of oral professional knowledge, some oral health behaviors need to be corrected, and oral health education needs to be improved professionally and innovatively.
