Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of psychological nursing on the mental state and periodontal health of patients with periodontal disease after orthodontic treatment. Methods A total of 106 orthodontic patients with periodontal disease admitted to Stomatological Hospital Affiliated to Nanchang University from May 2019 to January 2021 were selected and divided into the study group and the control group according to random number table method, 53 cases in each group. The control group was adopted routine nursing, and the study group was adopted enhanced psychological nursing on the basis of the control group. Both groups of patients were given continuous care for 4 weeks. The cooperation degree during nursing, anxiety score, depression score, pain score and periodontal health before and after nursing of the two groups were compared. Results The degree of cooperation between patients in the study group and nursing staff during nursing was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After nursing, the pain score, anxiety, depression, gingival index, gingival bleeding index, and plaque index of the two groups were lower than before nursing, the pain score, anxiety, depression, gingival index, gingival bleeding index, and plaque index of the study group were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Psychological care can effectively improve the mental state of patients undergoing orthodontic treatment of periodontal disease, and improve patients' gum health.
