Abstract:Objective To explore the influence and safety of modified electroconvulsive therapy(MECT)on memory function in childhood and adolescent schizophrenia. Methods A total of 76 cases of children and adolescents with schizophrenia in Jiangxi Provincial Mental Hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were selected as the study objects, and they were divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method,38 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional antipsychotic drugs, the observation group was treated with MECT on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks.and observed for 1 month after treatment. The clinical efficacy,Wechsler memory scale(WMS)score before and after treatment and the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 90.00%,which was higher than 66.00% of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in recognition, association, picture and back scores between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion MECT in the treatment of childhood and adolescent schizophrenia can significantly improve the total effective rate, has little effect on memory function of patients, has less adverse drug reactions, and has good safety.
