Abstract:Objective To explore the application of awake tracheal intubation under video laryngoscope in emergency operation of full stomach patients. Methods A total of 56 patients in Dongguan Guangji Hospital who needed emergency surgery under general anesthesia with awake endotracheal intubation (intubation) due to full stomach were selected as study subjects. According to the random number table method, the patients were divided into the video laryngoscope(VL) group (28 cases) and the fiberbronchoscope (FOB) group (28 cases). The VL group underwent plastic intubation with tracheal tube core under video laryngoscopy, and the FOB group underwent fiberoptic bronchoscope to guide the intubation. The intubation time, the first-pass success rate of tracheal intubation, the score of patient cooperation, the score of satisfaction with intubation during follow-up within 24 hours after anesthesia, and the incidence of adverse reactions during intubation were compared between the two groups. Results VL group′s intubation time was shorter than FOB group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the first-pass success rate of intubation, patient cooperation score, follow-up satisfaction score, and total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion For full-stomach patients undergoing awake endotracheal intubation during general anesthesia, compared with bronchoscope-guided intubation, video laryngoscope intubation could shorten the intubation time, and the success rate of one intubation, the degree of patient cooperation and intubation satisfaction are comparable, without increasing the incidence of adverse reactions to intubation.
