Objective To incestigate the application of epidural catheter spiral fixation in labor analgesia. Methods A total of 200 parturients who vaginal delivery and voluntary implementation of labor analgesia (gestational age ≥37 weeks) were selected as the study objects and divided into the S group and the L group according to random number table method, with 100 cases in each group. In group S,the epidural catheter was fixed in a spiral manner (the epidural catheter was folded in a spiral manner at the puncture site for two circles) and the catheter joint was extended to the neck by sticking to the skin, while in group L,the epidural catheter was fixed in a straight manner and the catheter joint was extended to the neck by sticking to the skin. The cases of complete epidural catheter prolusion, the length of indwelling epidural catheter in vivo at the beginning and end of labor analgesia, and the visual analog scale (VAS)scores at the most severe stage of labor before and after labor analgesia were compared between the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the cases of epidural catheter completely proluding the epidural space between the two groups (P>0.05).After labor analgesia, the indwelling length of epidural catheter in group S was greater than that in group L,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the VAS scores before and after analgesia in the first stage of labor and the second stage of labor (P>0.05).Conclusion Spiral fixation of epidural catheterization can reduce the length of epidural catheter prolapse and maintain the analgesic effect of epidural labor.
