Correlation study of fractional exhaled nitric oxide with eosinophils percentage in induced sputum,eosinophils count in peripheral blood and lung function level in patients with bronchial asthma

Abstract:Objective To study the correlation of fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO)with eosinophils percentage in induced sputum,eosinophils(EOS)count in peripheral blood and lung function level in patientswith bronchial asthma(BA),and to explore its significance in clinical diagnosis and treatment of BA.Methods A total of 47 cases of BA patients treated in Outpatient of Department of Respiration and Department of Inpatient,Chronic Disease Prevention Hospital of Qingyuan City from February 2018 to February 2019 were selected as the BA group,and 45cases of non-BA patients treated in department of respiration of our hospitalwere selected as the non-BA group during the same period.Lung function detector was used to detect the ventilation function of lung tissues in each group,and the forced expiratory volume for 1second expressed as a percentage of the forced vital capacity(FEV1%)was calculated.The EOS count in peripheral blood of patients in each group was detected by automatic blood cell analyzer.FeNO in each group was detected by nitric oxide (NO)detection kit,and hematoxylin-eosin (HE)stainingwas used to detect the percentage of induced sputum cells in each group.Results The FeNO,eosinophils percentage in induced sputum and peripheral blood EOS count of the BA group were higher than those of the non-BA group (P<0.05),while FEV1%was lower than that of the non-BA group (P<0.05).The FeNO of the BA group was positively correlated with the eosinophils percentage in induced sputum and peripheral blood EOS count(r=0.572,0.643,P<0.05),but not correlated with FEV1%(r=-0.005,P>0.05).Conclusion There is no significant correlation between the degree of respiratory airway obstruction and the severity of respiratory airway inflammatory response,so FeNO could not replace the physiological function detection of lung tissues.
