Abstract:Neonatal infectious diseases refer to diseases caused by bacterial, viral, mycoplasmal, fungal and other pathogens in the neonatal period, among which bacterial infections are the most common.Despite significant improvements in health conditions, newer and more effective antibiotics have emerged, but the incidence and mortality of infectious diseases remain high.Globally, infection is the main cause of death and disability in newborns, especially in middle-low income countries.Early diagnosis is the premise of treatment, but currently the laboratory is not able to provide indicators with high specificity and sensitivity for early diagnosis of infectious diseases. This article reviews the research progress of clinically used infection indicators such as white blood cells, platelet, C-reactive protein and procalcitonin in the diagnosis of neonatal infectious diseases.
