Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of microscopical varicocele ligation in the treatment of varicocele. Methods The clinical data of sixty patients with varicocele admitted to our hospital from November 2017 to February 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into experimental group (n=30) and control group (n=30) according to different treatment methods. The experimental group received microscopical varicocele ligation in subinguinal incision, while the control group was treated with retroperitoneal laparoscopic varicocele ligation. The quality of semen before and after treatment and the incidence of complications including scrotal edema, testicular atrophy, epididymitis and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in sperm count and sperm concentration between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the sperm concentration of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, and the sperm count was more than that of the control group (P<0.05). The total incidence of complications was lower in the experimental group than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The hospital stay in the experimental group was shorter than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical effect of varicocele ligation under microscope in the treatment of varicocele is remarkable.
