Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on prevention of falls in elderly patients with hemodialysis (HD)at home. Methods 86 elderly HD patients who underwent continuous regular dialysis treatment in our hospital′s blood purification center from January 2012 to August 2016 were selected as the research object. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method,43 cases in each group.the control group was given conventional HD treatment and nursing, and the observation group was combined with comprehensive nursing intervention measures. The intervention period was 6 months. The incidence of falls, awareness of preventable falls,POMA scale score (reflecting balance and gait ability)and MFES score (reflecting fear of falls)were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of falls in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The awareness rate of fall prevention in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The POMA and MFES scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The comprehensive nursing intervention can improve the correct understanding of fall and reduce the fear of fall,so as to effectively prevent falls.
