Abstract:Objective To explore the effect ofmental health education to enhance capability and efficiency of the family numbers to care psychiatric patients.M ethods From October 2014 to June 2015,the family members of hospitalized psychiatric patients were selected department of psychiatric in our hospital,based on whether or not to use mental health education,the family numberswere divided into observation group and control group,48 cases in each group.Zung Anxiety Rating Scale(SAS)and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)were used to evaluate anxiety and depression of the patients and the family numbers after patients admitted to hospital,after intervention 1 week,2 weeks,4 weeks,8 weeks for the family numbers,and after intervention 8 weeks treatment compliance of the patients was assessed.Resu lts After intervention 4 weeks,8 weeks for the family numbers in the observation group and the control group,anxiety scores[(50.49±3.25)points,(57.21±3.49)points][(41.79±3.40)points,(56.43±4.32)points],depression scores[(45.95±3.85)points,(40.86±4.71)points][(56.58±4.53)points,(56.06±4.87)points]were compared,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After intervention 8 weeks for the family numbers in two groups,anxiety score[(48.65±4.64)points,(63.74±4.65)points]and depression score[(50.07±4.69)points,(62.13±4.58)points]were compared,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The rate of treatment compliance(100.00%,87.50%)in two groups after intervention8 weeks,the differencewas statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Mental health education for the family numbers of psychiatric patients could indirectly improve symptoms of anxiety and depression,and improve their treatment compliance.Mental health education could significantly enhance capability and efficiency of the family numbers to care psychiatric patients.
