Abstract:Objective To evaluate the operation effects of the neonatal emergency transport system(NETS)for critically ill newborns of Huaian City as well as its clinical significance in the cure of critically ill newborns and to explore its drawbacks. Methods The clinical data of the newbornswho were transported to Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital of Huaian City through the NETS from January 2011 to December 2015 were analyzed. The proportion of disease constitution, the success rates of transportation, total cure rate and mortality of the transported critically ill newbornswas calculated. Results Over the past 5 years,a total of 846 cases of ill newbornswere transported and the first three ones of the disease categories (first diagnosis)of the transported newborns were respectively∶367 cases (43.38%)of neonatal pneumonia and respiratory failures,146 cases (17.26%)of neonatal sepsis and purulent meningitis, and 135 cases (15.96%)of asphyxia of newborn, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and intracranial bleeding.Suchmedical treatments as keeping warm, monitoring, infusion as well as oxygen supply and blood glucosemonitoring were widely used during the transportation process.A total of 268 cases underwent transportation ofmechanical ventilation, accounting for 31.68%of the total number of transported newborns, and it rose gradually annually and the differences featured statistical significance (P<0.01).Therewere a total of 23 cases of newbornswho failed to be transported successfully at one time, among which 11 cases were subject to secondary transport after their conditions had been stabilized and were successfully transported to the ICU wards. There was no a single death on the way of transportation, there were a total of 6 cases whose conditions deteriorated after being transported to the NICU and died within 2 hours, accounting for 0.71%of the total number of transports, and themain cause of death was severe septic shock, multiple organ failures caused by severe asphyxia and pulmonary hemorrhage. Conclusion The active implementation and constant perfection of NETS features have important significance to the elevation of the quality of life of the ill patients and the reduction of the death rates of the neonatal diseases.
