Investigation and analysis serum vitamin D level of 4525 children in Longgang District of Shenzhen City in 2016

Abstract:Objective To analyze the serum vitamin D level of children in Longgang District of Shenzhen City.Methods 4525 healthy children aged 0 to 14 years old from October 2015 to September 2016 of our hospital were collected. Serum samples were collected.ELISA was used to detected the level of serum 25-(OH)D and the clinical data were analyzed retrospectively.Results The average 25-(OH)D level of aged 0 to 14 years old children was(31.44±9.53)ng/ml. Less than 2195 cases(48.51%)with vitamin D deficiency;serum 25-(OH)D levels in 2713 boy cases were lack,severe lack in 246 cases(3.85%)and deficiency in 1039 cases(22.96%);Serum 25-(OH)D levels in 1812 girl cases were lack, severe lack in 174 cases(3.85%)and deficiency in 736 cases(39.23%).The difference of vitamin D level and deficiency vitamin D between boys and girls had no statistical significance(P>0.05);serum 25-(OH)D level in infant group was (35.97±12.34)ng/ml,which was obviously higher than was[(22.66±19.00)ng/ml]in 12-13 years old children,and the difference was significant(P<0.05),summer and autumn were significantly higher than those in spring and winter,there were signifi cant differences in 25-(OH)D and vitamin D deficiency among different age groups and seasons(P<0.05).Conclusion The vitamin D deficiency is higher in children in Longgang area,which relates to age and season and attention should be paid to prevention.
