Application effect of cluster nursing intervention on ventilator associated pneumonia in ICU elderly patients

Abstract：ObjectiveTo investigate the application effect of cluster nursing intervention on ventilator associated pneumonia(VAP)in ICUelderly patients.Methods79 cases of ICU elderly patients in our hospital from August 2015 to November 2016 were selected and divided into control group(n=39)and observation group(n=40)according to the random number table method.Patients in the control group were given routine nursing care,while patients in the observation group were given the cluster nursing on the basis of control grou.The mechanical ventilation time,ICU stay,total hospital stay,the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumnia and mortality of two groups were compared.ResultsThe mechanical ventilation time,ICU stay,total hospital stay in the observation group[(15.5±4.6),(17.4±6.3),(23.3±7.1)d]were shorter than that in the control group [(20.1±5.8),(22.6±6.4),(34.6±6.9)d].The incidence of ventilator-associated pneumnia and mortality of the observation group(27.5%,15.0%)were shorter than that in the control group(53.8%,48.7%).All the the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionIn the treatment of elderly ICU patients with VAP disease,the cluster nursing intervention can effectively shorten the mechanical ventilation time,hospitalization time,reduce the incidence of VAP and mortality,and promote the recovery of the patients.
